Yoo-Jin Kang (class ’15)
- In Summer 2012 she volunteered with the Speech Pathology department at Howard county General Hospital under Outpatient Rehab-shadowed a speech pathologist and prepared materials for patients.
- In Spring 2012 Yoo-Jin worked at The Samaritan Women farm planting crops, cleaning coops and doing general upkeep.
- In 2011 Yoo-Jin tutored spanish-speaking children with their homework and helped with the after school program at Education Based Latino Outreach (EBLO).
Tyler McCafferty (class ’15)
- Currently, she is a Beginning Readers Volunteer with the Reading Partners Program at Samuel Coleridge Taylor Elementary School in Baltimore, MD
- From 2009 to 2010 and from 2013 to the present, Tyler is a volunteer at St. Vincent’s Villa, a residential treatment facility for children with serious behavioral and emotional challenges.
- In Fall 2013, Tyler was a Conversation Partner with UMBC’s English Language Institute.
Jennifer Mroskly (class ’15)
- From 2009 to 2012, Jenny was a volunteer counselor at Deaf Camp, a weeklong sleep away camp in Manidokan, MD, where she was responsible for the safety of elementary school Deaf children as well as the supervision of various camp activities.
Jen Wachtel (class ’15)
- Ambassador (Fall 2014 – present), UMBC Office of Undergraduate Admissions, welcoming visitors to campus, providing directions, advising incoming freshmen
- Office Volunteer (Summer 2014), Literacy Volunteers of Somerset County – Bridgewater, NJ, updated literacy volunteer manuals and resources, communicated directly with literacy volunteers to maintain accurate office records
- Student Representative (Fall 2012 – present), UMBC Hillel Board, represented interests of students to the Hillel Board regarding administrative decisions and assessments
Matthew Poissant (class ’15)
- Peer mentor for the SUCCESS “Advanced Vision of Self” class where I worked with the students in accomplishing their work
Juliana Venegas (class ’15)
- With her sorority, Phi Mu Fraternity for Women, Juliana regularly volunteers at Happy Helpers, the Catonsville Food Shelter, The Hopkins Home for Children, and the Baltimore Homeless Shelter.
