Jonathan Harness (class ’20)

• Fall 2017, Treasurer of the History Student Council. One of the founding members of the current History Student Council, this following a period where the once active student council lost its position as a student organization due to a lack of membership. Jonathan will be responsible for its funds.

Julia Byrne (class ’20)

• Summer 2017, College Democrats Treasurer: Managed finances and planned events for the club
• Winter 2017, Co-chair of the UMBC Progressives LGBT Caucus: Organized speakers on progressive subjects, planned phone banks to local officials, and participated in campus-wide events.

Chelsea Johnson (class ’20)

• Fall 2017, Spring 2018, Secretary for American Sign Language Club. The Secretary is responsible to take minutes and handle communications for group. Role also includes supporting VP and fulfilling VP duties if he/she is not able to.

Mikaila Donaldson (class ’21)

• 2018 to present, Phi Mu Fraternity for Women – Chapter President, Service Chairman, Panhellenic Delegate and Ritual Chairman
• Fall 2018 to Spring 2019, Panhellenic Association, Standards Board Member

• Fall 2018-Spring 2019, Secretary For Environmental Task Force – Sophie scheduled and took notes at meetings, organized the club calendar, and assisted the president as needed.

Anjali DasSarma (class ’21)

• June 2020, Represented UMBC at the College Media Association conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

• Established The Retriever Weekly Advisory Board with outstanding journalists from the Washington DC-Baltimore community.
• Spring 2020, Student representative COVID-19 pandemic planning meetings
• Fall 2017 to present, Humanities Scholars Senator, assisting with planning events and organizing activities.

Tess McRae (class’21)

• Fall 2020 to present, Design Coordinator, TEDxUMBC. As part of the Organizing Committee, Tess creates promotional graphics for the organization, and managed the technological logistics behind the “Unmasking Uncertainty” event hosted on Webex in November 2020.
• Spring 2018 to Spring 2019, Director of Communications, Student Government Association. Tess served on the 2018 Election Board, as a Coordinator for Graphic Design and became the Director of Communications in Spring 2019.
• Spring 2018 to Fall 2018, The Retriever Poets. Tess was the founding Secretary of this organization that’s dedicated to providing a space for poetry writers.

Elizabeth Eakes (class ’21)

• Spring 2019: Represented UMBC at the Civic Learning and Democratic Engagement conference, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The experience provided insight about community-university partnerships and methods of engaging students in the efforts of participating in and shaping democracy.
• Fall 2018- Spring 2019: President of  UMBC’s Environmental Task Force. Led club members on weekly stream cleanups in the green spaces on UMBC’s campus. While Elizabeth was President, Club awarded the Margaret Rosch Jones Grant for a Conservation Landscape Tree Planting. Organized social and environmental events, collaborated with other environmental student organizations and UMBC Facilities Management.
• Fall 2017 – Spring 2018: Living Learning Community (LLC) Ambassador. Organized events that encouraged positive living community values and relationships among LLC residents.

• Fall 2017 to Present, Humanities Scholars Senator
• Fall 2018 to Spring 2019, Secretary for The Cleftomaniacs, UMBC’s premier co-ed a cappella group. In 2018, the Cleftos made history as the first UMBC group to place in an ICCA quarter-final, while also receiving the award for best choreography.

Kelley Bennett (class ’18)

• Fall 15-Spring 17, Humanities Scholars Program Senate planning events and meeting with other senators to serve as a voice for the scholars in the program.
• Fall 14 – present. Humanities Scholars Program Advisory board

 

Mary Farrell (class ’18)

• Fall 2015 – Present, Panhellenic Association Representative, Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority, – Mary attends and give updates at regular meetings of the UMBC PanHellenic Council while also reporting back to leadership in her own sorority. Mary acts as the ambassador between her sorority and its overarching Greek organization (PHA).
• Fall 2015 – Present, Standards Board Member, Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority
  – As an active member of the Standards Board, Mary attends bi-weekly hearings relating to disciplinary infractions and proposes consequences and future plans of actions so as to remediate any issues. Mary also helps leadership in dealing with interpersonal conflicts and providing guidelines for future infractions, should they occur.

 

Flora Kirk (class ’18)

• Fall 2016 – Present UMBC Ancient Studies Council, Secretary, oversees and assists in running movie and craft events that promote ancient history and the Ancient Studies major. The Secretary role involves designing promotional material and keeping meeting minutes.
• Fall 2015 – Spring 2016, UMBC Ancient Studies Council, Treasurer, oversaw the purchase of t-shirts and handling of money during bake-sales.
• Fall 2014 – Fall 2016, Student Assistant, UMBC Archaeology Lab where Flora processed and catalogued artifacts excavated in Baltimore and surrounding areas.

 

Julian Tash (class ’18)

• Fall 2015 – present, Vice President of The Asian Studies Council of Majors.
  Julian conducts club meetings, creates club events, and contributes in various ways in running the club.

• Spring 2015 – present, President of the Visual and Fine Arts Club.
  Julian runs meetings and connects the group with other student organizations to create collaborative projects. The group collaborated with the UMBC Living Poet’s Society to create an “artist’s open night mic” offering a free exhibition space for any interested artists. A collaboration with ComicCon, at which student artists were connected with opportunities to sell their art, and an interactive public drawing space number among a few of the other initiatives that Julian organized and executed as the President of UMBC Art Club.
• Fall 2014 – 2015, LLC Council
  He worked with students from other Living Learning Communities to plan events for the all of the LLCs.
• Spring 2014 – present, Treasurer of Debate Club.
  Julian made weekly allocation requests. Additionally, helped run meetings, judge debates, and plan club events. Julian was one of only two debaters from UMBC to be admitted to the American Parliamentary Debate Association National Tournament in Spring 2015. At this tournament,he and his partner successfully restored UMBC’s spot among APDA tournament hosting institutions.

 

Kelly Wan (class ’18)

• 2015 – present Cleftomaniacs
  President of UMBC’s premiere co-ed acapella group, the Cleftomaniacs. Kelly completes administrative tasks for the group, such as organizing on campus concerts and off campus performances, running executive board meetings, relaying important information to the group, and handling any internal or external conflicts. In past years, Kelly has served on the executive board as the Vice President (2015-2016) and Historian (2016-2017).
• 2015 – present O-Team
  Kelly has been a member of UMBC’s O-Team since her sophomore year as a Welcome Week Leader. Her duties include helping first year and transfer students transition to UMBC, escort them to important Welcome Week events, and provide support and advice for their university experience. This upcoming fall semester, she will be a Lead Woolie. Kelly and the other three Leads will be in charge of organizing building assignments, designing tee shirts, and preparing as well as executing the Welcome Week orientation for fellow woolies.
• 2015 – present Office of Undergraduate Admissions, UMBC
  Kelly is a member of the Student Ambassador Program for Office of Undergraduate Admissions at UMBC. She promotes the university to prospective students and participates on student panels, receptions, online chats, and other admission events.
• 2014 – present, Humanities Scholars Program Senate member.
  Kelly was recently elected to become a senator to represent her cohort on the newly established HSP Senate. She and fellow senators have suggested some on and off campus activities and are trying to promote the scholars program for future applicants.
• 2014 – present, Living-and-Learning Communities (LLC) Council member.
  She helped create and promote several events to bring all the LLCs together, such as the Halloween Fun Fest and the LLC Gift Exchange and Social.

 

Rebecca Haddaway (class ’18)

• 2015 – 2016, Vice President of Fellowship in Alpha Phi Omega: Alpha Zeta Pi chapter, a co-ed service-related fraternity on campus.
• Fall 2015, Treasurer, Lisa Simpson Book Club
  The club purpose is to read all of the books that Lisa Simpson, from the Simpsons television show, has ever referenced in the show.
• Spring – Fall 2015, Treasurer Visual Arts Club
  Club promotes student arts representation on campus, as well as serving as a creative outlet for participants.

 

Morgan Zepp (class ’18)

• 2017 – 2018, REACH Initiative – Director, Morgan will be involved in all aspects of  program, from recruitment of mentees and mentors to issues like transportation, workshop development, outreach, events, and more.
• 2017 – 2018, Senior managing Editor, Bartleby Creative Arts Journal, Morgan will supervise the editing and publication process  and plans to improve the editing process to make it a more meaningful and enjoyable experience.
• 2017-2018—I will serve as the overseer of Bartleby’s editing and publication process and I plan to propose new ideas regarding how to improve our editing process so that it is a more meaningful and enjoyable experience.
• REACH Initiative – Service Learning Coordinator—Morgan is in charge of coordinating the mentors volunteering for the program and making sure that they receive Service-Learning credit through the Shriver Center, as well as leading Reflection Sessions on how the program is going for them
• “Lisa Simpson” Book Club – Vice President – In this fun book club, Morgan’s aim is to foster a more literary climate at UMBC by getting students together in a non-academic environment to talk about works of literature.
• English Council of Majors – Treasurer – Morgan is in charge of delegating how the money of the organization is handled, as well as doing other administrative things like publicizing events the organization is having.
• Bartleby Creative Arts Journal – Social Media Coordinator – She is responsible for running the Bartleby Facebook page and publicizing events on myUMBC, as well as creating interesting graphics that would help for these events to be publicized.

 

Emily Grace (class ’18)

• Spring 2016, The English Council of Majors vice president
  Emily will serve as ENG-COMs vice president, which will involve the revitalization of the club’s presence within the major and the organization of speakers from various English related professions
• 2015 – 2016, Engineers Without Borders secretary
  In this position, Emily organizes meetings for the executive board and the general body, sends formal emails to donors, project contacts, and others as needed, organizes connections between EWB and other on-campus groups. She staffs events as the face of EWB at Involvement Fest, meetings for Engineers Week, and presentations as needed. She also assists with Grant Writing.
• 2015 – 2016, The Lisa Simpsons Book Club secretary
  Emily creates flyers as needed to spread awareness about the clubs on-campus events, and assists the president in further advancing the club’s presence on campus.
• Fall 2015, Humanities Scholars Council Senator and Interim Senate Chair
  Emily advises and suggests activities for the scholars program to Dr. Oskoz, helps staff and set-up events as needed. As Interim Senate Chair, she was responsible for organizing meetings with members, taking and distributing minutes, and communicating with the Scholars as needed. Emily moved the Senate to GoogleDocs and organized the first Freshman election while in this position.

  Emily helped to organize events to bring together members of living-learning communities

Kate Giitter (class’18)

• Spring – Fall 16, Kate is a board member of new student organization, the Education Council of Majors. As a board member she helped create the organization’s policies and goals, and currently plans and manages events and programs for the upcoming semester.

 

Anthony Alberti (class ’18)

• Fall 2016, Communications Director at QUMBC
  This a queer activist and awareness group on campus. As Communications Director, Anthony writes notes for each meeting and coordinates all of group’s social media in addition to helping in the planning of all group events

 

Austen Edelenbos (class ’19)

Alison Feeney (class of ’17)

• Fall 2014 to present, President for UMBC’s Club Lacrosse team
  Responsible for managing the club; serving as point of contact with the club’s sports director, securing refs, running practice when needed, and designing team gear.

 

Naomi Martínez (class of ’17)

• Summer 2014, Subcentro de Salud, Ecuador
  Naomi co-led community workshops on nutrition and diabetes for the at-risk population

 

Dylan Elliott (class of ’17)

• 2015 – present, Secretary Executive Board of UMBC’s Mock Trial Team; December 2014 – Present, Treasurer
  Dylan has served UMBC’s mock trial team as a member of its executive board, assisting in the decision making process for personnel decisions, tournament choices, and other program matters. Dylan contributed to the program’s historic run to the Opening Round Championship Series during the winter of 2015 both as a member of the executive board and as one of the team’s leading attorneys.

• Fall 2014 – Present, Humanities Scholars Program Advisory board
• May 2014 – May 2015, Treasurer of the Honors College Council.
  Dylan served the Honors College and UMBC community as the treasurer of the HCC, which plans multiple events for the UMBC student body. Dylan served as a liaison with the SGA and Office of Student Life, attending to the financial details of event planning.
• September 2014 – Present as a Council Chair; (Fall 2013 – Present, UMBC Residential Life’s Peer Review Council).
  Dylan, serving his second year on the Peer Review Council, took a leading role in his council’s proceedings, particularly early in the year when his fellow council-members were all new to the PRC. Dylan often served in the speaking capacity on the council, guiding the hearing’s progress and leading the interactions between the charged student and the council.

 

Laura Sharp (class of ’17)

• Fall 2014 – present, Humanities Scholars Program Advisory Board
  Laura contributes ideas about how to make the Humanities Scholarship program more engaging and supportive.
• Fall 2014 – present, Queer Student Leadership Council member
  Laura helps coordinate the activities and information of UMBC’s LGBTQ+ groups and communities

 

Maggie Graham (class of ’17)

• Fall 2015, Secretary for Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority (an executive board position)
  Organize meeting minutes, write thank you cards, help make choices for the chapter

• Fall 2014 – Spring 15, Humanities Scholars Program advisory board
  Maggie worked with other members to plan events, develop the Humanities Scholar’s Constitution, and helped launch the Humanities Scholars Senate.
