Nailah-Benā Chambers receives Critical Language Scholarship

Traveling to Taipei, Taiwan in June 2021

Nailah is a sophomore Global Studies major with a Minor in Chinese. She'll be traveling to Taipei, Taiwan this June and staying through mid-August in an immersion program learning Chinese.  Awardees are selected based on their commitment to language learning and plans to apply their language skills to their future academic or professional pursuits. 
Nailah will be in a group of about 24 students and will be speaking only Mandarin and taking courses in Mandarin for the duration of the program. There will also be cultural excursions and a language partner assigned, in order to increase cultural understanding.

The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program is an intensive overseas language and cultural immersion program for American students.  The CLS Program seeks participants with diverse interests, and from a wide range of fields of study and career paths, with the purpose of representing the full diversity of the United States.
