Humanities Forum

Since 1987, the Dresher Center’s Humanities Forum has offered a free program of events that illustrate the richness of contemporary work in philosophy, history, culture, language, literature and the arts. The Forum fosters creative thinking about the role of the humanities in civic life within our globally interconnected world. All Scholars must attend at least two of these events per semester. (Note that some Forum events require advanced registration!)

Waiver of Liability

Participation in off-campus program excursions will require completion of a waiver of liability, found here.

On that page, you’ll be prompted to enter your own name and email, as well as info for a witness – you can choose anyone inside or outside the Humanities Scholars Program and/or UMBC for this role – and then choose whether you are 18 or older. (This is included because scholars under 18 must get an additional signature from a parent/guardian.) Once you complete that form, it will generate an email to the address you provided for yourself. Within that email, click the button to review the waiver document, read carefully, and sign. Your completion of the document will initiate an email to your designated witness to review and sign the same document. Note that your form is not complete until your witness signs and submits it.
